Valentine's Day Inspiration09:33:00
Let's talk about Valentine's Day! I assume a lot of people either love or hate this day, but yet we can't deny that there is something special and sweet about it. I don't know if you had the same experiences growing up, but in my elementary school days we would get hundreds of heart stickers on Valentine's day and put them on everyone and anyone, to let them know how special they were. It didn't matter if it was your best friend, that boy or girl you had a crush on when you were 9, or simply your neighbor, whose day got way much better after you put that silly little sticker on their shirt or cheek. However, this holiday has a whole different meaning once you become older. Whether you are currently in a relationship or not, you will probably still agree with me, that this special day is all about romantic little gestures for the person that you love. And nothing else is needed, so long as that comes from the bottom of your heart.
Below I made a little mixture of photos from what to wear for girls, to some general ideas of what I think are the most important things on Valentine's Day. So without any longer introduction, scroll down and see some tips on how to celebrate this romantic holiday. Also, if you have any more tips or ideas after reading the article, feel free to share them in the comments. Happy (early) Vanentine's Day!
Nr. 1 Dresses
Set nr. 1, Little Black Dress from Sheinside. Girls, I think we can all agree that you can never go wrong with black. Ok, maybe unless it's +35 degrees outside and your body is covered in black cloth, then yes, but other than that black is always a go-to color. I made this collage with pieces from Sheinside page, with the classic little black dress, and stilettos with some gold details, and minimalistic jewelery to create an elegant, yet girly and chic look. What I like about this outfit, is that although the shape of the dress is very simplistic, accessories and golden details add up to the whole outfit and create a very feminine look.
Set nr. 2, Lady in Red from Sheinside. If you are more of a bright colour person, then this is ideal for you. I was just thinking that I probably don't own a single piece of clothing that is red, because I never really liked it in clothes, but something about Valentine's Day makes me wanna change my mind. Either a red outfit, or red lips with red nails are a must. It creates that playful, yet sophisticated and sexy look, which is definitely a part of Valentine's Day. Like in the first look, I used Sheinside dress, heels and jewelry. What other styles do you like or think are perfect for this occasion besides dresses?
Nr. 2 Surprises
I noticed how many girls usually struggle to find the right present for their other half on their birthdays or Christmas, but Valentine's day is not about necessarily giving something that could be useful for that person, or something that they wanted for a long time. It's about giving them something from your heart. It can be a little sentimental gift like a bouquet of heart shaped balloons, or a huge surprise for a weekend getaway in the mountains to some spa resort. Whatever you decide to do for your significant other, just do it with love. It's about showing them attention.
Nr. 3 A romantic dinner
I am not entirely sure, but I think this image was shot in Paris (correct me if I'm wrong). Looking at it really makes me miss that city, especially on holidays like this. It's incredibly impressive by itself, I mean people named it a city of love not without a reason, but I can only imagine what it must feel like to be there on Valentine's Day. Candles, wine, some peaceful music playing in the background and this view, is how I imagine a perfect Valentine's dinner. Obviously, not all of us can get this view but at least the other 3 things are very achievable. If you are debating having dinner at the restaurant, or a having a meal at home - make sure to think about those details!
Nr. 4 Chocolate
This is probably more of a note for guys but chocolate needed a separate section. GIRLS LOVE CHOCOLATE! Don't forget that. You may forget wine or they sold out all the nice roses at your local flower stall, but don't turn up to a dinner without a little sweet something for your girlfriend. Trust me, they will appreciate it more than that stuffed teddy bear.
Nr. 5 A movie
It doesn't matter if you are out in town or staying in, a movie on Valentine's Day is always a good idea. I guess it's up to you and your significant other what genre film you would like to watch, but going to the cinema, a drive-in theatre or just cozily snuggling on the couch is bound to be a nice and enjoyable time. And even if you are single, you can still do all these things I mentioned above alone, and make Valentine's Day fun. And not only on February 14th but whenever you desire. Love for life or love for your friends and family can be celebrated any day of the year.
